Blacken'd Lake

There once fell upon the lands,
A darkling veil…
Descending upon thy shoulders,
And amidst the lands through the deepest vale.
Writhing seas of rigid waves,
And fearfully blacken'd maelstroms…
'Tis here where lurking are odious wraiths.

Came the malice of night,
Impressing upon mine face, a face of fright.
Lingering amongst lost and wandering souls,
There lingered in the darkness, a lightly hole.

Such an egress, to thee I must confess,
'Twas this for which I didst plead, perhaps a place for my soul to be freed?
Alas, it held further than near, it held a vexing journey through twisting tendrils of fear.
And so I started out, holding in my prayers to be kept from South.
Faring first well, 'twas not long before I fell…

A night so raw with hate,
Boiling in her malice,
She prayed simply for mine darkling fate.
Nay, though I proclaim'd,
Never should I succumb to the succubus of nightshade.

Forth I waded through the wallowing lake,
Making my way faster and faster, throwing souls into my wake,
Running now sprinting from hate,
Progressing on and on, forth to a lightly fate.
It took not long from here,
Pressing on and away from fear…
I found the light and fell to my knees,
I fell and beseeched my soul be freed.

She was ethereal, her wings spread wide
To me she offer'd a beautiful hand and a sparkling eye
As she stole me away into an entrancing place…
A place where mine soul wouldn't be left to waste.
